A deep-ish red-purple colour, leading to a narrow rim. The nose offers myriad rich, ripe bramble, black cherry and plum aromas, with further notes of leather, damp earth, herbs, smoke - a lovely nose! All of which carry through in the mouth, with flavours of ripe black cherry and berry fruits, orange peel, herbs, peppery spice and subtle hints of saline/umami and earthy minerality, wrapped around a core of ripe, gently rustic tannins and ample orange-cherry skin acidity. A rich, rounded, warming and generous mouth-feel, leading to a long, cool, slightly minty/peppery finish. A really lovely wine! |
