Medium-dark, limpid cherry/purple colour, fading to a narrow rim. As with previous vintages of this cuvée, this shows genuine aromatic complexity, with a nose of red and black summer fruits, garrigue herbs, freshly-baked bread, damp undergrowth and peppery spice. The palate is crammed full of youthful, spice-laden red and black cherry and berry flavours, with subtle notes of orange peel and peppermint, wrapped around a core of ripe, gently rustic tannins and tangy cherry skin acidity. The finish is at the same time cool and minty, yet warming and spicy - and really quite persistent. It is wonderfully fruity, tangy, sweet-sour.... and absolutely delicious! |
