A new label and a new incarnation of what was previously called simply Duche d'Uzès Rouge - one our most constently popular wines - but now with Syrah replacing Grenache as the dominant variety. A bright, deep-ish cherry/purple core, leading to a narrow rim. A fabulously expressive nose of morello cherry, bramble and cassis, with further notes of damp earth and garrigue herbs. Made in a slightly lighter style than its predecessor, the palate is so fresh and full of life, with both red and black fruits melding together nicely, with bags of cherry kernel acidity and melting tannins. This is a joy to drink, and transports you instantly to a warm summer evening in the south of France. Lovely wine! |
