Aged for 18 months in barrel, and with a deep purple robe. The nose is packed with dark bramble and cassis aromas, with myraid secondary aromas including curry spices, garrigue herbs, coffee and damp earth - very complex. The palate is relatively concentrated, yet surprisingly elegant and wonderfully balanced, offering both red and black fruit flavours (cherry, redcurrant and bramble) and all manner of savoury/herby/spicy flavours, with really fine tannins and bags of juicy, mouth-watering acidity, all of which leads to a long, sweet-sour finish. It is relatively approachable now, but will certainly age and evolve for another 5 to 8 years. Another very classy wine from this most reliable of growers, and excellent value for money for such a top class wine. |
