Good now, but will age and evolve to 2026 and beyond

A return to the Syrah-dominated blend of earlier vintages, this offers bright bramble and black cherry aromas, with subtle notes of roasted meat, damp earth, curry spices and wood smoke. The colour might suggest a rather deep, tannic wine, but it really is deliciously drinkable and approachable. The tannins are quite robust (for now) but the combination of ripe, juicy fruit and mouth-watering acidity provide an excellent foil - so much so that trying not to drink it all at this early stage may be an exercise in futility. It really is a lovely wine, with a good deal of complexity, not to mention a lengthy finish. Of course, it certainly has the structure to age for a few years...... but I'm almost tempted to say why wait? |
