60% Grenache Noir, 20 % Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, 10% Carignan, aged in vat. Bright, clear cherry-blood red colour. A delightfully "winey" nose - by which I mean all the elements are beautifully integrated - offering a pot-pourri of fresh and crystallised red and black fruit aromas, with notes of polished leather, damp earth, exotic spices and fine eau de vie. The palate too is nicely integrated - again offering a mix of fresh and dried red and black fruit flavours, gently herby/savoury and earthy, with hints of saline minerality and kirsch. The tannins are beautifully ripe but provide plenty of grip, whilst the ample acidity refreshes, the overall effect being a medium-to-full-bodied (though relatively soft and approachable) wine, that can be drunk now, but will nevertheless age and evolve nicely for another 5 to 8 years. |
