Similar in colour to Sine Nomine, if perhaps a shade darker. Once again, a wonderfully expressive nose, offering spiced red-black fruits, polished old leather, spice and fine eau de vie and subtle floral and herb notes. Beautifully rounded in the mouth, with bags of herb-infused sour cherry and ripe bramble fruit flavours, spiced orange and a hint of something deeper - fig, perhaps. It really is quite complex and mouth-filling, without ever turning the volume too high. There's a touch of typical Collioure salty minerality too (this is grown no more than a kilometre or two of the Mediterranean), and with fine, ripe tannins and plenty of refreshing acidity to balance it all out, it really is a delicious, classy wine, chock full of Mediterranean warmth and character. |
