80% Grenache Blanc & Gris, 15% Vermentino and 5% Marsanne, fermented and aged in new oak barrels for 8 months. The colour is an ultra-pale, limpid straw/gold, with green glints. Although fermented and aged in new oak barrels, the oak influence on the nose is minimal, with myriad fruit and floral aromas to the fore, with subtle hints of peach, orange blossom, cut grass, star anise and garrigue herbs. The palate is beautifully refreshing and crisp, again with herb and spice notes and a touch of mint. As with previous vintages, it isn't overtly rich, though it still offers plenty of concentration, with an element of maritime/saline minerality and a modicum of grape tannin, all of which is countered by laser-like acidity, all of which leads to a long, mouth-watering finish. A delicious, refreshing, yet complex white wine. |
