From vines aged 50 years-plus. A medium-hued, semi-translucent blood/cherry red, with amber hints, fading to a narrow rim. The nose offers myriad sweet fresh and dried red and black fruit aromas, freshly baked bread, refreshingly high-toned, with further notes of dried orange peel and forest floor. The palate is wonderfully fresh and full of vitality, with masses of ripe red and black fruit and soft citrus flavours, married to fine, ripe, lapsing tea-like tannins and cracking acidity, with an ever-so-slightly creamy texture and a long, tangy finish. A delicious wine, and absolutely textbook Cru Beaujolais. |
